Springhill Family,
We are living in dark times. Darkness allows those dwelling in it to become bolder in their sinful defiance. No place is safe against the schemes of the devil. A recent video shows a Lutheran priest reciting the “Sparkle Creed.” What is the sparkle creed you ask? Here is a small portion:
I believe in the non-binary God whose pronouns are plural.
I believe in Jesus Christ, their child, who wore a fabulous tunic and had two dads and saw everyone as a sibling-child of God.
Let’s begin by breaking this down. What is non-binary? According to a dictionary it is denoting, having, or relating to a gender identity that does not conform to traditional binary beliefs about gender, which indicate that all individuals are exclusively either male or female. The creed is attempting to say that God is not male or female. Despite the fact that Jesus is male and God identifies as masculine throughout scripture: John 18:4-5 “Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.”
Why are they trying to make God out to be a they/them instead of he/him? The people who believe this are attempting to justify their sinfulness. Rather than pursuing a Holy God, they wish to create a false and unholy god. Leviticus 21:8 “You shall sanctify him, for he offers the bread of your God. He shall be holy to you, for I, the LORD, who sanctify you, am holy.”
This attacks the person of God and the order by which He creates. It wishes to question God’s will, His brilliance, and holiness. Think about it. This creed is saying that God is not perfect. It is claiming that God makes mistakes, and we are smarter. We as creation are able to undo and change God’s mistakes. Deuteronomy 32:4 “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.”
The next line states a belief in Jesus Christ. Remember what God says through James: James 2:19 “You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!” It is the demonic belief of those reciting this creed that is causing eternal damage to so many.
The creed states that Jesus is “their” child. Is Jesus a child of God the father and Joseph or is he simply a child of the Father? The use of “their” is attempting to highlight a false claim about scripture. Jesus is the Son of the Father, God. Joseph is not His biological Father. This false creed is attempting to claim that Jesus has two dads—one in heaven and one on earth—so that they can attempt to justify homosexual parenting.
The creed says that He wore a fabulous tunic. What are they attempting to say here? This is claiming that Jesus was in drag. A drag queen. They are trying to equate Jesus’ being robed in glory and flesh to that of a man dressing up as a woman. Deuteronomy 22:5 “A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God.”
Last, it claims that Jesus saw everyone as a child of God. They must have forgotten when Jesus said the complete opposite about the Pharisees. John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Believer, it is important to know the Word of God. We must stop living in a way that defies God’s word. It is time for us to shine the glorious light of the gospel in a dark world that includes dark churches.
May God have mercy on us,
Brian Winburn
