AWANA
Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed
And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me. Matthew 18:5a
The goal of Springhill’s Awana Clubs is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.
Open to preschool through fifth-grade students, the clubs meet from 6-7:40 p.m. Wednesday nights throughout the school year.
How To Sign Up
You can sign your child up to participate in Awana at any time during the school year. You can call the church office in advance, or come by to register at about 5:45 p.m. before the Clubs meet on any Wednesday night. What To Expect
Learning Scripture
The Bible tells us to hide God’s Word in our hearts, and we train children to do just that through scripture memorization. We use handbooks that you can review at home to learn Biblical truths and memorize verses that your child will likely remember for the rest of his or her life!
At the beginning of each club meeting, awards are distributed to students for completing sections of their handbooks. They will receive jewels or patches to add to their Awana vests or shirts. Students also earn “shares” by learning verses. Each quarter, they can cash in their shares for toys and prizes at the Awana Country Store.
Story Time
Every week, we study a story from the Bible with the children at a special storytime. Children will learn how to apply lessons from these stories to their own lives.
Game Time
Springhill is blessed with a Worship Center that includes ample space for indoor game time. For example, students take shots at our basketball hoops, and play volleyball, wiffle ball, and other fun-filled games together.
Snack Time
Drinks and snacks are provided during Awana as children get some time to sit and visit together while they eat snacks.
Pinewood Derby
Once a year, the Awana Clubs get together for an exciting Pinewood Derby in the springtime.
Children purchase $5 car kits and build their cars in advance with their parents or with volunteers from the church.
On Derby day, it’s time to race the cars.
Trophies are distributed for the fastest cars, the most artistic and the most spiritual designs.
It’s a fun time for all, and family members are welcome to join in the fun and watch the competition.
Closing Ceremony
At the end of the year, we have a joyous closing ceremony in which the children show all that they have learned.
Family and friends are invited to join us as the children recite verses, sing songs, and receive recognition for a job well done.
