Springhill Family,
Hebrews 13:5b-6 “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
This has always been one of my life verses for ministry. Serving God can be difficult, but God never leaves us. I shared recently in a sermon about Jesse L. Brown, an African American pilot in the Korean War. Unfortunately, Jesse’s plane was shot down, and he was forced to do a crash landing. Two things stood out about this incident. First, in order to find a place to land, the pilots climbed in altitude to see where the best place to land would be. What a great image of how we should approach life! When we are wounded, hurting, or even having a good day, we need to go up to the Father to get the right view of life. Second, when his fellow pilots saw that Jesse was alive but unable to get out of the plane, his wingman Thomas Hudner intentionally crashed his plane in the same field. Think about that. He crashed a perfectly good plane just to help his friend.
This reminds me of the greatest story ever told. Christ left the comforts of heaven to come and rescue us from sin. He took our sins upon Himself when He died on the cross. He was buried to show that when our sin is paid for it is removed from us. Jesus also rose again from the dead on the third day to provide a way for us to have eternal life. Believers can endure the hardest and best times in life because they know who Jesus is. No matter where we crash in life, God will never leave or forsake us.
